TESTIMONIALS
“We spend our lives working with fly fishing guides around the world through our hosted trips with Frontiers International. Good guides are an elite group of individuals whose greatest passion is to find fish for their clients. We all sooner or later find that certain guide that stands head and shoulder above the rest. For us,Capt. Eric Wallace is that kind of guide. We look forward to our annual trip to Maine and our days with Eric on the water. He’s simply one of the best
-Barry & Cathy Beck, Sage Fly Rods, Pro Team
"Capt. Eric Wallace is the wizard of Casco Bay shallow water fishing. He’ll conjure up fish where they shouldn’t be, slip you a magic fly they can’t refuse, and if you insist, even give you a time out to gulp your lunch."
—Jerry Gibbs, Fishing Editor, Outdoor Life
I’ve pretty much fished the entire world; from Marlin to sunfish. On fly, of course. Along the way many guides have poled me around. Rating from one to ten I easily give Capt. Eric Wallace an eleven. Casco Bay is an outrageously beautiful place but you must know your waters. The tidal swing is immense resulting in a very easily accomplished unwanted high and dry situation. Not only does Capt. Wallace know how to thread his way in and out of those tricky tides…… he knows where the fish are moving to. But catching a lot of fish, which I did, is not the most important experience. Your guide should be friendly, accommodating and fun to be with. Eric is all of that.

Thanks for the morning on the Casco Bay flats. It’s such a blast to jump on the bow of a flats skiff and mess around sight fishing for stripers. Sure it’s a good time to do the usual striper thing with heavy sinking lines and fishing the rocks, but seeing the fish in 18’ of water and making the cast is so exciting. And the eat; with the fish pushing a wake towards the fly, shoulders breaking the surface and the last surge to inhale the fly, that is absolutely the best striper fishing to be had!

"I can't tell you how impressed I was with the Maine Striper fishery, specifically Casco Bay. Thanks to Capt. Eric Wallace for leading our group on three days of exciting striper fishing in the "Northern Bahamas" as all our fish were caught in less than 4 feet of water. Eric knows this water intimately and for a successful trip--he is the guide to call!!!"
—Capt. Curt Jessup, Cape Cod Outfitters
"If fantastic striper fishing is your goal, you'd do yourself well by making way to Casco Bay to fish with Captain Eric Wallace. Eric is a fun and knowledgeable captain whose office is one of the most picturesque and un-pressured stretches of water anywhere on the striper coast."
—Dave Skok, Boston, Massachusetts
If you like fly fishing the flats, and find yourself in Maine, you need to go fishing with Capt. Eric Wallace. Eric is one of top guides fishing The Casco Bay area and his passion is poling for stripers cruising the shallows. One morning Eric poled us as skinny as his flats skiff would go so we could cast to healthy, broad shouldered stripers waking after baitfish. The takes were explosive! I would recommend a trip with Eric to anyone who enjoys fly fishing. He is a fun professional who is very knowledgeable about his sport and this fishery.

After twelve years of flyfishing for striped bass on Casco Bay, I had the opportunity to flyfish with Captain Eric Wallace last summer. I requested that we sight-fish for big stripes in skinny water, which is a challenge anywhere but particularly so in Maine. Eric put us onto more big stripers (all between 30” – 42”) in a few hours than I had ever seen here in twelve years. I had thought that the big stripers were a rarity in Casco Bay but Eric’s skills, knowledge, and expertise changed all that. You can be sure that I plan to fish with him whenever I can in the future. As the former president of the Casco Bay Chapter of CCA, I had access to many anglers, guides and information about the fishing here, but it was truly Eric Wallace who showed me the light. Add to this that he is a lot of fun and has a great attitude to his clients; I highly recommend him.

"If you're planning a trip to the Portland/Yarmouth area and want to experience some really unique fishing, I enthusiastically recommend you book a day with Capt. Eric on Casco Bay. This is a place where a visitor really needs a guide, given what can happen in an area known for 9 to 11 foot tides which have carved away the rock, creating ledges, steps and undercuts in some areas while depositing their sediments in other locations to create grassy shoreline flats. You also have the added benefits of a good conversationalist in a guide who not only knows his local Striper fishing, but also Tarpon in his winter quarters in Florida Keys, and has lots of West Coast trout and steelhead experience. One other recommendation...get your arm in shape because there's not a lot of down time!"
